There's none so deaf ...
... as those who don't want to hear, is my conclusion after reading the latest article about The Three Cups in the Dorset Echo, entitled "Brewery vows to keep the Three Cups Hotel".
Palmers don't want to hear that, with their "dog in the manger" attitude to the derelict and decaying Three Cups, they are denying access to an historical treasure which ought to be a World Heritage Site. And West Dorset District Council don't want to hear that it is their duty to use compulsory purchase (which would cost them nothing and they can make a profit on the deal) to save this cultural and commercial asset for their electorate to be a hotel again so that it can bring tourists and jobs to Lyme Regis.
I don't know what it would take to get through to Palmers. Perhaps they don't appreciate how much writers like Jane Austen, G.K. Chesterton and J.R.R. Tolkien are admired around the world. As for WDDC, they have a duty to act on behalf of those who elect them and not in the interests of big business. I hope that the electorate remind them of this on the 6th May by voting for candidates who have the interests of local people and small businesses at heart.

What about all this localism we hear about inthis election. Not much use if the local authporities are like WDDC who are spineless. They are also so arrogant but also ignorant which is a dire combination.
The Three Cups is a very important building so I suspect that not Planning Inspector will allow change of use or allow changes to it's appearance. Keep fighting and do not allow John Palmer and his PR company to get away with anything
