URGENT - Important meeting of Lyme Regis Town Council
If you want to see The Three Cups re-open AS A HOTEL, please make every effort to attend the full meeting of Lyme Regis Town Council on Wednesday 22nd May. Click here for details.
As reported in my post of 11th May, "The town councillors ... approved recommendations by Rikey Austin and Lucy Campbell that The Three Cups Hotel should be brought back into use as holiday accommodation excluding second homes. " These recommendations have to be ratified by a full meeting and anyone from the town can attend and voice their concerns. Given the way that the will of the people has been largely ignored to date as Palmers push through their economically and culturally damaging plans, this could be your last chance to stop a change of use by the planners.
I'm sorry that there is not more I can do from this distance but I would love to hear that the word goes around the town and a big crowd turns up to say that they want to SAVE THE THREE CUPS AS A HOTEL as they did at the Woodmead Halls in 2009. Click on this link to read my report.
I would also appeal to anyone with a video camera or any device such as an iPad which can film the event to try and get the proceedings recorded and published on the internet via YouTube. This would be a great expansion of democracy. If the public can watch the proceedings in the House of Commons, why can't we all know what Lyme Regis Town Council is doing for the benefit of the people who elected them? It would be a great help to the cause of saving the HOTEL for the town, the country and literary fans around the world to get this issue publicised as widely as possible.
