In whose interest?
The meeting of Lyme Regis Town Council on 22nd May was reported in the latest View from Lyme Regis newspaper. Click here to read on-line.
Some councillors abstained to defeat a key recommendation to save The Three Cups AS A HOTEL apparently claiming that the people of the town don't want that. I don't think so because I was at the meeting in Lyme Regis on 24/4/09 when 235 people voted unanimously in favour of compulsory purchase to keep The Cups AS A HOTEL.
If the councillors are so sure of public opinion, perhaps they could produce details of their polls, sample sizes and statistics etc. Otherwise, it might be reasonable to work with the existing data and act in the interests of the people who elected them. Or if they are in any doubt, why not have a Town Poll to make sure?
