Heritage, Character and a Warm Welcome
I would like to suggest 3 other critical success factors for a hotel apart from the proverbial location, location, location (which The Three Cups HOTEL certainly has).
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Rosely Country House Hotel in Arbroath for work. It was a while since I had been there and I was pleased to find that the hotel is thriving despite attempts from property developers to take it over for other purposes. It would seem that the owners' enthusiasm and the character of the building continue to attract patrons and visitors to Arbroath. This formula should be noted by West Dorset District Council in their current deliberations on the future of The Three Cups HOTEL.
Please note from their website that Rosely Country House Hotel is "popular with game hunting parties, golfers, walkers, cyclists" and not just those interested in luxury accommodation.

I'd like to thank Andrew Miller for posting the information above about alleged wrong doing. There is not much I can do personally from a distance. I can only suggest that he reports these very serious matters to the police and keeps copies of any relevant documents.
Apologies to Andrew Miller but I have removed his comment alleging wrong doing regarding ownership of properties in Lyme Regis. If he could let me know the status of these allegations (e.g. Have they been made to the police or are they public knowledge?) I will consider further whether they should be published on my blog.
It is the usual policy of the Palmers that when they obtain 'change of use' for a property that they insert a covenant that it will never revert to the original use. presumably this will be the case in this instant.
