Liskeard in The Lead
I think that there is hope for the Three Cups Hotel from Cornwall.
On 12th July last year, I published a post about The Webb's Hotel in Liskeard and how it was disused for many years and had become an eyesore. A visitor left a comment last September and I must apologise for not realising that I should have moderated and released it to appear on the website. Anyway, I think it has come to light at a very opportune time as it illustrates what can be done with a hotel building of character in the centre of an attractive old town in the West Country.
I would like to think that the cultural heritage of the Three Cups would enable it to be used again as a hotel given that many tourists would travel to see Lyme Regis and the building itself if they were made aware of its history.
To save you going back through the archives, here is the comment again:
"Webbs Inn Restaurant opened one week before last Christmas 2005 and has become extremely successful. I have the Nebula Hotel in Liskeard and many of my guests eat there on my recommendation and thoroughly enjoy it. My husband and I eat there once a week too. The frontage of the Hotel is offices to the Cornish Times and there are flats upstairs. It is a massive improvement in the centre of Liskeard and the whole of the Parade seems to be following suit and looks very smart there now."
