Campaigning for preservation of the hotel where J.R.R. Tolkien stayed and gained inspiration for his mythology. Jane Austen, G.K. Chesterton, Tennyson and H.W. Longfellow were also guests. The Three Cups Hotel in 1982

Here's a link to a web page describing a visit to Lyme Regis and staying at The Three Cups twenty five years ago! It is entitled "An American discovers the joys of Lyme Regis, Dorset".

I would expect today's standards of hospitality would provide for more assistance on arrival and a cream tea on the premises!
